KS1 Football Skills Festival – Staff Information

Event Overview:
The KS1 Football Skills Festival is an exciting, action-packed event designed to engage our youngest pupils (Years 1 and 2) in a series of fun, football-based activities. The festival provides a fantastic opportunity for students to build fundamental skills such as dribbling, passing, and shooting in a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment. Our goal is to nurture teamwork, confidence, and enjoyment of physical activity while keeping things lighthearted and fun.

Key Details for Staff:

• Date & Time: 19/11/25 - 9:45-11:30

• Location: Colburn Community sports centre

• Year Groups Involved: KS1 (Years 1 & 2)

• Expected Number of Children: 15 Yr 1's 15 Yr 2's

Festival Structure:

• Skill Stations: Pupils will rotate through various football skill stations, each focusing on a different aspect of the game (e.g., dribbling, passing, shooting). Each station will be led by a designated teacher or coach.

• Mini Matches: Following the skill stations, pupils will participate in small-sided friendly games that focus on teamwork, fair play, and enjoyment.

• Teamwork Emphasis: Throughout the day, we will encourage positive interaction and collaboration, with each child placed in mixed-ability groups to ensure inclusivity.

Logistics:

• Arrival & Registration: All children should arrive at the venue by 9:45. They will be registered by one of our coaches.

• What to Bring: Pupils should come dressed in PE kits (appropriate footwear), bring a water bottle.

Other Notes:

• We encourage staff to take an active role in fostering a positive, supportive atmosphere and helping children feel confident in their abilities.

• Please be mindful of any pupils with specific needs and ensure they are supported appropriately throughout the day.
