A Mini Tennis Primary School Competition is a fun and engaging event designed to introduce young children to competitive tennis in a simplified and accessible way. Using smaller courts, slower balls, and adapted rules, Mini Tennis ensures all participants can enjoy the game while developing their skills.
Age-Appropriate Format: Usually played in different Mini Tennis categories:
Red (Ages 5-8): Small court, larger and softer balls, shorter rackets.
Orange (Ages 8-9): Mid-size court, medium bounce balls.
Green (Ages 9-10): Full court, slightly slower balls.
Simplified Rules: Shorter matches, underarm serves allowed, and adapted scoring to encourage rallies.
Team & Individual Formats: Can be played as a singles or doubles competition, with teams scoring points collectively.
Inclusive & Developmental: Focuses on participation, skill-building, and enjoyment rather than just winning.
Round-Robin Stages: Players compete in short matches against different opponents.
Points-Based Scoring: Winners of each match earn points for their team.
Knockout or Festival Style: Depending on the format, top players or teams may progress to finals or everyone may continue in a fun-based festival structure.
Emphasis on Fair Play & Fun: Coaches or teachers encourage sportsmanship, teamwork, and learning.
