A Primary School Tag Rugby Competition is a fun and inclusive event designed to introduce young children to rugby in a safe, non-contact format. It focuses on developing teamwork, agility, passing, and strategic play while encouraging participation and enjoyment.
Non-Contact Format: Players wear belts with two velcro tags, which defenders must remove to "tackle" an opponent.
Team-Based: Typically 5 to 7 players per team, with rolling substitutions.
Inclusive & Accessible: Suitable for all abilities, ensuring everyone can participate.
Fast-Paced & Fun: Games are short, encouraging quick passing and movement.
Round-Robin or Knockout Stages: Teams play multiple short games, with winners progressing to finals.
Scoring System: A try is scored by crossing the try line with the ball (no conversions or kicking in most formats).
Fair Play & Sportsmanship: Emphasis on teamwork, respect, and enjoyment over competition.
Refereed by Teachers or Coaches: Ensures rules are followed and games remain fun and safe.
